Synopsis: Radames has been accused of revealing military secrets to Aida and is now in prison awaiting trial for treason. Amneris loves him and wants to believe that he is innocent but can't reconcile the overwhelming evidence against him. She summons him and suggests that he should confess to the crime and she will intervene and save him.
