Synopsis: Josephine expresses her sorrow at the situation in which she is trapped. She loves Ralph, who is a sailor aboard the Pinafore. However, as the daughter of a captain, her social position is far above that of a sailor. She fears that this class difference will prevent their love from ever being accepted.
